Indian Railways has 32000 vacancies; Railway Minister gave recruitment update in Lok Sabha session.
The third term budget of the Modi government was presented on July 23, in which Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented her seventh budget, setting a record of becoming the first Finance Minister to do so. During the budget session, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw gave important updates on railway recruitments.
Responding to a question in the Lok Sabha, Vaishnaw claimed that recruitment is going on for 32,603 posts in the Railway Protection Force (RPF). Notifications were issued for Assistant Loco Pilot, Technician, Sub-Inspector, and Constable posts from January to March 2024.
Announcing the new recruitment system, Vaishnaw said that the Ministry of Railways will now release an annual recruitment calendar for Group 'C' posts, giving candidates ample time to prepare. The Modi government has directed that the recruitment in the railways, which was earlier done once in 4-5 years, should now be done every year and an easy recruitment process should be adopted to provide jobs.
The plan launched in 2022 has recruitments scheduled for January, April, June, and October. The current recruitment cycle has recruitments going on from January 2024 to March 2024. This new approach is aimed at preventing candidates from looking for alternative careers due to long waiting periods.
