India will become stronger in the defense sector. The capabilities of the youth will be enhanced and innovations will also be made. For this, many IITs and educational institutions across the country have joined hands. With this collaboration, the foundation of an institute was laid, which will focus on cutting-edge research, innovation, and capacity building.
According to a statement issued by the Delhi-based Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology IT, all the institutes together have established the Manekshaw National Center of Excellence in Security Studies and Research i.e. MCONSSR. This institute will be supported by the three armed forces of India. This institute will be known as the nodal defense center of India. The center was officially inaugurated on Monday and the general council meeting was held at IIT Delhi.

According to the statement issued by IT, advanced computing development centers like IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Jodhpur, IIT Dharwad, and CDAC have come together in this initiative. All these institutes will work together in areas like cyber security, artificial intelligence, hypersonic, energy weapons, and additive manufacturing.
The goal is to increase India's self-reliance
According to the statement, next generation defense weapons will be developed in this center. Apart from this, work will also be done to increase India's self-reliance under Atmanirbhar Bharat in collaboration with education, government and industries.
Efforts already underway
Earlier, Innovation for Defense Excellence i.e. IDEX was launched by the government in 2018, which is continuously working to modernize the Indian Army and further advance technology. This is promoting innovation in the aerospace sector. This was an effort in which startups were linked.
