There is a steady increase in the share of direct tax collection in the country's treasury. The data given by the government for 80 days of the current financial year proves this point completely. On the other hand, the government treasury has benefited a lot from the increase in corporate tax and non-corporate tax. The advance tax has also seen an increase. Apart from this, a tremendous increase has also been seen in returns. If we look at the figures, there has been an increase of 58 percent. According to experts, the service being given to the taxpayers by the government and fast processing has led to an increase in tax refunds. Let us also tell you what kind of figures have come out regarding tax.

The boom in direct tax collection

According to the fresh data released by the government, India's direct tax collection for the financial year 2025-26 increased by 4.86 percent to Rs 5.45 lakh crore till June 19. However, due to a sharp jump in refunds, net collection saw a slight decline. If we talk about total tax collection, it includes corporate tax, non-corporate tax, security transaction tax (STT), and other charges - it increased from Rs 5,19,936 crore during the same period last year to Rs 5,45,207 crore.

Tremendous increase in tax refund
If we talk about tax refunds, then there has been a tremendous increase in it. Looking at the figures, there has been an increase of 58.04 percent in tax refunds, which increased from Rs 54,661 crore a year ago to Rs 86,385 crore. This jump in refunds is probably due to better taxpayer services and faster processing. As a result, net direct tax collection saw a marginal decline of 1.39 percent, which has come down from Rs 4,65,275 crore last year to Rs 4,58,822 crore.

Increase in advance tax.
There has also been an increase in total advance tax receipts. According to government data, there has been an increase of 3.87 percent in the advance tax collection, which has reached Rs 1,55,533 crore. At the same time, there has been an increase of about 6 percent in corporate advance tax and the figure has increased to Rs 1,21,604 crore, but the non-corporate advance tax has decreased by 2.68 percent to Rs 33,928 crore.
