Income Tax: Income Tax told why there is a delay in the refund, what is the big reason behind it?

A big announcement has been made by the Income Tax Department for the taxpayers. The last date for filing ITR was extended from July 31 to September 15 in the past. Now, taxpayers can file ITR till September 15.
Why is there a delay in getting a refund?
Citing a media report, the Income Tax Department has said that it will not issue refunds for new ITR files until it fully reviews the previous returns. According to the information received from the official website of the IT Department, 75 lakh ITRs have been filed so far, out of which 71.1 lakh returns have been e-verified.
It has also been noticed that there has been a delay in filing ITR for the financial year 2024-25 this year. At the same time, ITR forms were also not issued altogether. In such a situation, there may be a delay in getting the refund.
This can be the reason for the refund getting stuck.
