In UP, the elderly will now receive their old-age pension within just 45 days; learn the online application process..
UP Old Age Pension New Rules 2026: There is significant news for the elderly in Uttar Pradesh. The state government has introduced major changes to the rules for the Old Age Pension Scheme. Instead of receiving a three-month pension amount as a single lump sum, the funds will now be disbursed in two installments—transferred directly to the beneficiaries' bank accounts every 45 days. Each installment will consist of ₹1,500. According to the Social Welfare Department, this new system will make it easier for the elderly to access financial assistance and manage their funds. If you are an elderly individual and wish to avail of this scheme, read on for a step-by-step guide on how to apply online from the comfort of your home, along with details on the required documents.
New Pension Rules and Amount
The total three-month pension amount of ₹3,000 will now be disbursed via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) in two installments rather than as a single lump sum. There will be a 45-day interval between the two installments, with ₹1,500 credited directly to the beneficiary's bank account in each installment.
For elderly beneficiaries over the age of 80, the pension consists of contributions from both the central and state governments—₹1,500 each—totaling ₹3,000 per quarter.
For elderly beneficiaries aged between 60 and 80, the state government contributes ₹2,400, and the central government contributes ₹600, amounting to a total of ₹3,000.
The government has clarified that to ensure uninterrupted receipt of the pension, all beneficiaries must link their bank accounts with their Aadhaar card and the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) system.
