In case of an accident, cashless treatment worth ₹1.5 lakh will be provided; PM Modi is soon going to launch a new scheme..
Ayushman Card, PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima, and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana. These are some of the Modi government's schemes that are proving to be very useful in times of crisis. Now, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is soon going to launch another important scheme. This scheme will provide significant relief to people injured in road accidents. Under this scheme, if someone is injured in an accident, they will immediately be able to receive cashless treatment up to Rs 1.5 lakh.
Treatment can be availed through this scheme for up to 7 days from the date of the accident. It is believed that the implementation of this scheme will also reduce the number of deaths due to road accidents. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, informed that PM Modi will soon implement this scheme across the entire country. He shared this information after the annual meeting of transport ministers of states and union territories. He said that this scheme is being introduced to reduce deaths caused by a lack of timely medical assistance in road accidents.
What is the cashless scheme for road accident victims?
On March 14, 2024, the Ministry of Road Transport launched a pilot project in Chandigarh to provide immediate cashless treatment facilities to people injured in road accidents. Later, it was extended to 6 more states. According to the notification of the Ministry of Road Transport, each victim is provided with a cashless treatment facility up to Rs 1.5 lakh for a maximum period of 7 days from the date of the accident.
Cashless treatment is provided in 80 percent of cases
Since the launch of the pilot project in March 2024, cashless facilities of Rs 1.5 lakh have been provided in more than 80 percent of cases. Only about 20 percent of these cases were rejected. Nitin Gadkari informed the Lok Sabha that out of a total of 6833 applications, 5480 victims were found eligible for the scheme. The remaining cases were rejected by the police. He also said that an amount of Rs 73,88,848 has been disbursed so far under the Motor Vehicle Accident Fund.
How to avail the benefits of this scheme
The benefits of this cashless treatment scheme will be available to all categories of motor vehicles. If a road accident occurs, regardless of the type of vehicle involved, the victim will receive the benefits of this scheme. Any person who is a victim of a road accident caused by the use of a motor vehicle will be entitled to 'cashless' treatment in accordance with the provisions of this scheme. Cashless treatment is expected to make it easier for people injured in road accidents to receive timely medical care.
