UPSC has launched a new portal. Now the application process will be easier. Let's know the complete details...

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has taken a big step for the convenience of the candidates and has launched a new application portal on 28 May 2025. Now to participate in all the UPSC examinations, the candidates will have to apply through this new portal. Its purpose is to make the application process simpler, faster, and transparent.

The One Time Registration (OTR) system which was running till now has been discontinued. Now the candidates will have to apply directly by visiting https://upsconline.nic.in and upload their documents here too. This change has been implemented by the commission especially with exams like CDS Exam-II, 2025 and NDA & NA-II, 2025, whose notification has also been issued on 28 May.

What is the specialty of the new portal?

UPSC has informed that this new portal has been divided into four parts, so that students do not face any problem while applying...

Account Creation - Candidates can first create their profile.

Registration - Through this, the profile will be prepared by filling basic information.

Common Application Form - General details for all exams have to be filled here.

Exam Specific Section - Necessary information has to be filled as per the notification for a particular exam.

Relief from time and trouble

UPSC says that this new system will save students from last minute rush. Now candidates can fill the first three parts whenever they want and as soon as any exam notification comes, they can go to the fourth part and complete the application. This will also save time and the experience of applying will be better than before.

Aadhaar card is necessary for identification

The commission has also suggested that all candidates use Aadhaar card as their identity proof while applying. This will make it easy to confirm their identity and there will be no possibility of any error in any document. Also, the information related to Aadhaar will remain as a permanent record in all the examinations.
