ATM Card Tips: It is being claimed on social media that if you press the Cancel button twice before your transaction in the ATM, then your ATM PIN will not be stolen.

ATM Card Tips: In this era of social media, any message becomes viral in a moment. One such unique message is going viral on social media these days, in which it is being claimed that if you press the Cancel button twice before your transaction in the ATM, then your ATM PIN will not be stolen. This message is being shared quoting the RBI. Let us know how true this message is and how useful it is going to be for you.

What is the truth of the viral message?

After using the ATM, the work of the 'Cancel' button is only to stop the transaction that you have started. If you have inserted your card and for some reason do not want to do the transaction, then pressing 'Cancel' stops the process. But by pressing the cancel button you cannot keep your card safe.

PIB Fact Check said that this message going viral on social media is completely fake. Pressing the cancel button of the ATM machine has no connection with keeping your card safe. No such instruction has been given by RBI.

How to keep ATM card safe?

Immediately remove the card after the transaction from the ATM.

First check if there is any skimmer installed in the ATM machine.

Cover the keypad with your hand while entering the PIN.

Always keep SMS and bank app notifications on.

Avoid ATMs installed at unknown places.

Before leaving the ATM without doing the transaction, press Cancel, but it is wrong to believe that the card will be safe just because of this.
