Under the scheme, women receive direct assistance of ₹5,000 for first-time mothers and ₹6,000 for second-time mothers. Learn how you can take advantage of this government gift.

PMMVY 2026: The central government is providing significant financial assistance through the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) to improve the health and nutrition of mothers and infants in the country. This scheme, which has been running in a new form since 2017, is no less than a boon for pregnant women. Its main goal is to provide women with money for nutrition during pregnancy and encourage the birth of daughters.

Benefits are available twice

The financial assistance under the scheme is divided into two parts:

The government provides a total of ₹5,000 for first-time mothers. Of this, ₹3,000 is given at the time of pregnancy registration, and the remaining ₹2,000 after the child's birth.

If the second child is a girl, the government provides direct assistance of ₹6,000. This entire amount is transferred directly to your bank account (via DBT) so there are no middlemen involved.

Who can apply?

Several conditions have been set to benefit from this scheme:

The woman must be at least 19 years old.

The family's annual income must not exceed ₹8 lakh.

If you have an e-Shram card, a BPL card, a MNREGA card, or are in the disabled category, you can easily apply.

Application Process and Deadline

Don't delay in taking advantage of the scheme. It is necessary to apply within 270 days of the child's birth.

You can fill out the form yourself by visiting the official website, pmmvy.wcd.gov.in.

The form can also be submitted by visiting your nearest Anganwadi center or government health center.

Government assistance reaches millions of women

According to government data (PIB), this scheme has brought positive change to the lives of more than 40 million women in the country. The government has transferred over ₹19,000 crore to women's accounts so far. This scheme not only provides financial assistance but is also changing society's attitude towards daughters.
