If You Discover a Security Flaw in the Aadhaar Platform, UIDAI Will Offer a Reward! Find Out Who Can Participate...
UIDAI has launched a new Aadhaar Bug Bounty Programme to bolster the security of digital platforms linked to Aadhaar. The objective of this initiative is to identify vulnerabilities within these platforms with the assistance of cybersecurity experts and ethical hackers. Under this program, selected experts will scrutinize various digital systems operated by UIDAI and responsibly report any security flaws they discover. Furthermore, individuals who identify and help resolve such vulnerabilities will be awarded a bounty.
What is a Bug Bounty Programme?
In a Bug Bounty Programme, companies offer cybersecurity researchers the opportunity to examine their platforms. The primary goal is to swiftly identify any security flaws or vulnerabilities present within the system. When an ethical hacker discovers and reports such a vulnerability, the organization rewards them with a cash bounty. Adopting this very model, UIDAI has launched this program to further enhance the security of digital systems associated with Aadhaar.
What is the Reward?
UIDAI has categorized these vulnerabilities into four distinct levels: Critical, High, Medium, and Low. If a researcher discovers a flaw that poses a severe threat to the system, they will receive a larger reward. Conversely, relatively smaller rewards will be granted for minor vulnerabilities. This framework aims to strengthen the overall cybersecurity posture of Aadhaar.
Security experts selected under the Bug Bounty Programme will conduct security assessments across several of UIDAI's digital platforms. These include the official website, the myAadhaar Portal, and the Secure QR Code application.
Who Can Participate?
Currently, this program is not open to the general public. For the initial phase, UIDAI has selected a specialized panel comprising approximately 20 experienced cybersecurity researchers and ethical hackers. These experts have been chosen based on their expertise and experience in the field of cybersecurity.
