Solar panels require sunlight to generate electricity, but this doesn't mean your home's power will cut out the moment the sun sets. If a battery is connected to the solar system, the electricity stored during the day can be used later. This raises the question: if the sun doesn't appear at all for a full day and the panels generate no power, how long will the battery last? There is no single fixed answer; the system will run longer depending on the battery size and the amount of electricity consumed.

No sunlight means no power generation from panels.

Solar panels need light to generate electricity. If the weather remains such that there is no light throughout the day, the power output from the panels can be very low. In such a situation, if the system has a battery, the home's power needs can be met by the battery. However, an "On-Grid" solar system without a battery does not provide backup power at night or during a grid outage. This is merely an illustrative example; actual backup time depends on battery technology, inverter efficiency, the battery's condition, and the specific household appliances being used.

You can have power even without sunlight for a day

If your solar system is equipped with a battery of sufficient capacity, your home can continue to run essential appliances for several hours even on a day without sunlight. However, if the battery capacity is low and household power consumption is high, the backup will run out quickly.
