If the train is missed, most people think that now the money for the ticket is also lost. But there are some rules of the railways which can reduce your tension a bit. Money does not go waste in every condition. For that, it is important to have complete knowledge of the rules.
If you miss the train due to mistake. Even then you can get a refund. For this, there is an option from the railways to file Ticket Deposit Receipt i.e. TDR. But this work has to be done within one hour of the train leaving. The claim made after this is not valid.
You can file TDR through IRCTC website or app. For this you have to log in and the option of TDR will be found in the My Account section. Here you have to tell the reason for travel, ticket and train missing.
If the train is missed due to your mistake. Then you do not get the full money. Railways deducts service charge and some other amount. That is, you will get some part back. This rule also depends on how soon you have filed TDR.
But if the mistake is of the Railways. Like the train left before the scheduled time or there was some technical reason. Then full refund can be given. For this it is necessary that you have given the right reason. Railways investigate the claim and if the matter is found to be correct then money is received without deduction.
After filing TDR, it generally takes 7 to 21 days for the claim. Your money comes in the same account from which the ticket was booked. But let us tell you that sometimes the refund gets processed quickly also.
