 Social media

On Tuesday, a message of billions of rupees suddenly arriving in the account of a deceased woman in Dankaur, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, created a stir. Many such cases have made headlines earlier as well. Now imagine that one day you wake up from sleep and you come to know that crores and billions of rupees have been deposited in your account too, then what will you do? Will you get up and go shopping, or will you transfer the money to some other account of yours? If you think of doing something like this, then let us tell you that you should not do these two things at all. Doing this can put you in legal trouble and can also lead to jail. Let us understand what should be done if crores of rupees come into the account?

Do not spend money because every transaction is recorded.

As we told earlier, if crores of rupees suddenly come into the account, you do not have to spend them or transfer them anywhere. Actually, in the era of digital transactions, every transaction is recorded. In such a situation, if you tamper with an unknown amount, then the bank or investigating agencies can easily track it. In such a situation, if an unknown amount is ever credited to your account, then go to the "Help/Support" or "Dispute/Unauthorized Transaction" section on your bank's official website or mobile app and file a complaint. Do not forget to put the transaction ID in your complaint, so that the bank can investigate the transaction. If you want, you can also complain by going directly to the bank. However, it is better to send an official email to the bank for your clarification.

File a complaint on RBI's portal.
If you do not want to get into legal trouble while investigating an unknown amount, then go to the RBI's official website https://cms.rbi.org.in and click on "File a Complaint" and file your complaint. After filing a complaint, you will get a Complaint Reference Number, which you should keep safely. You can use it in the future to show your intention to the agency investigating that unknown amount, so that you are safe.

Change all your banking and UPI passwords.
Many times, your account can become a target in incidents like hacking or accidental fund transfer. In such a situation, if an unknown amount comes into the account, change the passwords of all your banking apps, net banking, and UPI. Apart from this, make sure to turn on two-factor authentication for all these services. By doing this, if there is an attempt to hack any of your accounts, then it will stop there.

Report on Cyber Crime Portal
If you feel the threat of any cyber attack or hacking on your account, then you can report it on https://cybercrime.gov.in. For this, you can go to the website and register your case in the “Report Other Cyber Crime” section. If you feel that this is a scam or your information has been stolen, then FIR or NCR can also be done through an online form.

Get the account of the deceased person closed.
The latest case of an unknown amount coming into the bank was related to a dead woman. In such a situation, it is important that after the death of a person, his bank account and UPI should be closed. By not doing this, dead accounts can be used for serious crimes like fraud or hawala. In the future, legal and cybersecurity-related matters will be discussed. To avoid dangers, as soon as a person dies, their bank and UPI accounts should be closed as per the official procedure.
