LPG to PNG Switching Offers: The ongoing geopolitical tension in the Middle East has now begun to impact India’s gas market as well. Driven by mild anxiety among the public, trends in LPG cylinder bookings have witnessed fluctuations. Amidst this scenario, the government and gas companies are paving a new path forward. The primary focus is now shifting toward PNG—or Piped Natural Gas.

This is precisely why companies are offering free gas, discounts, and a variety of other incentives to attract users. If you currently use LPG, making this switch could prove to be a highly advantageous move for you. It will result in lower bills, fewer hassles, and enhanced safety. Read on to discover exactly what offers are currently available.

Special Offers Available on Switching to PNG

Various companies are actively competing to attract customers to switch from LPG to PNG. In the Delhi-NCR region, IGL is offering free gas worth ₹500 to customers who obtain a connection before March 31st. Meanwhile, MGL is waiving the ₹500 registration fee for domestic connections.

Furthermore—and not just for domestic users—the security deposit requirement (ranging from ₹1 lakh to ₹5 lakh) is also being eliminated for commercial users. GAIL Gas is also offering free gas worth ₹500 on domestic connections. BPCL has completely removed the security deposit requirement for commercial PNG connections. This means you now have the opportunity to save on the significant upfront costs typically associated with setting up a new connection.

Status of LPG Bookings

According to the Ministry of Petroleum, a noticeable shift has been observed in LPG cylinder bookings in recent days. While approximately 8.88 million (88.8 lakh) cylinders were booked on March 13th, this figure dropped to 7.7 million (77 lakh) on March 14th. This decline is attributed to panic among consumers. However, the government maintains that there is no shortage of gas anywhere in the country. The trend of online booking has also surged rapidly, now reaching approximately 87 percent. In light of this, people are being advised not to panic and book unnecessarily, but rather to utilize digital platforms.

Changes in Regulations

To curb the hoarding and black marketing of gas, the government has taken strict measures. Raids are being conducted across the country, and control rooms have been established in 22 states and Union Territories to facilitate monitoring. Furthermore, through amendments to the regulations, it has been explicitly stated that consumers who possess a PNG connection must surrender their LPG connection.
