Currently, biometric authentication is mandatory at an Aadhaar enrolment centre to change your mobile number. An upcoming update will eliminate this hassle and the entire process will be completed online.

The face authentication feature already present in the new Aadhaar app will be integrated into this process. Users will be able to update their Aadhaar-linked mobile number from within the app by scanning their face. This will not only save time but also reduce congestion at service centres.
