CISF has started its first women commando unit, where women soldiers are being given special training for high-security duty.
Women are going to have a stronger participation in the security of the country now. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has created history by starting its first women commando unit. The women soldiers joining this unit are being given special training so that they can deal with every situation, from airports to sensitive establishments.
This special training is going on at the Regional Training Center (RTC) located in Barwaha, Madhya Pradesh. Here, women are being given an eight-week advanced commando course. This course is specially designed for women. Its purpose is that they can confidently carry out responsibilities like the Quick Response Team (QRT) and Special Task Force (STF).
In this training, emphasis is not only on physical ability but also on mental strength. Women are taught fitness drills, weapon practice, rappelling, obstacle races and the art of survival in the jungle. Apart from this, they are trained to make the right decision immediately in difficult situations.
Where will be the first deployment?
After completing the training, women commandos will first be deployed at the airports of the country. After this, gradually they will be given responsibilities at Parliament House, Metro and other sensitive establishments.
Big step
Earlier this year, the Home Ministry also approved the first women battalion of CISF. This battalion is being prepared near Delhi and its women personnel will be deployed at places like Parliament House, Indira Gandhi International Airport and Delhi Metro.
Salary and facilities
Women commandos of CISF also get the same pay scale and facilities as male soldiers. Initially, their salary starts from about Rs 25,500 basic according to the level-3 pay scale, in which this amount reaches 30 to 40 thousand rupees by adding allowances, medical facilities and other allowances. Salary and post increases as per experience.
