This scheme will be applicable in all categories and special trains (trains running on demand) except trains with flexi fare. Only confirmed tickets will be valid under the scheme.

Indian Railways has taken a new initiative to provide relief to passengers from overcrowding during the festive season and to facilitate ticket booking. Now passengers will be able to book onward and return journey tickets at concessional fares under the 'Round Trip Package'. This scheme is especially for those who book both the tickets in advance.

Railways will give 20 percent discount

Under this scheme, if a passenger books onward and return journey in the same group, then 20 percent discount will be given on the basic fare of the return journey. However, for this both the tickets should be in the same class and the same origin-destination (O-D) pair. No refund will be given in the tickets booked under this scheme. You can book only on these dates

Initially, this scheme is being started as an experiment, which will start from August 14. According to the scheme, train journeys between October 13, 2025 to October 26, 2025 can be booked from August 14, 2025. At the same time, return journey tickets will be booked for train journeys between November 17 to December 1, 2025. The special thing is that advance reservation period will not be applicable for the return journey, which will benefit the passengers.

The scheme will be applicable in all categories and special trains

This scheme will be applicable in all categories and special trains (trains running on demand) except trains with flexi fare. Only confirmed tickets will be valid under the scheme. At the same time, any kind of discount, rail travel coupon, pass or voucher cannot be used in it.

Booking will be done through a single medium

Passengers will be able to book both the onward and return journeys either online or from the counter of the reservation office. Both tickets should be booked through a single medium. Apart from this, if extra fare is charged on any ticket while preparing the chart, then no extra charge will be taken from the passengers.

Railways did the planning for this reason

This round trip scheme has been initiated with the aim of better management of seats during festivals and to provide the facility of both the tickets to the passengers on time by making the booking process easy. While this will benefit the passengers by giving them financial discounts, it will also help the Railways in controlling the crowd and ensuring the use of trains in both directions.
