UP Voter List: If you live in Uttar Pradesh and your name is not appearing in the SIR draft voter list, there's no need to worry. This draft list is not the final voter list. It is an updated version that will be finalized later. More than 2.89 crore names have been removed during the Special Intensive Revision.

However, the Election Commission has also started the claims and objections process. If your name has been removed by mistake, you are being given a chance to add it back. It is important to know how to check your name and what steps and documents are required to add it back.

How to check if your name has been removed?

First, understand that the draft voter list is not yet final. You can check your name on the Election Commission's official Voters’ Service Portal. There you will find the Special Intensive Revision section, which has a "Search your name" option.

You can find your name by entering your EPIC number (voter ID number), or by filling in your date of birth, district, and assembly constituency information. If your name does not appear, it means that it is not currently included in the draft list, and you will have to take further action. Besides this website, you can also check your name through the ECINET mobile app.

How to become a voter again?

If your name is not in the SIR draft voter list, the Election Commission has provided an opportunity for claims and objections. For this, you can fill out Form 6 if you are a new voter or if your name has been removed. Form 7 is for cases where a name has been removed by mistake, and you want to add it back.

Fill Form 8 if your name is present, but you need to correct your address, spelling, or other details. You can fill out this form online at voters.eci.gov.in or submit it offline to your Booth Level Officer (BLO). The window for claims and objections is usually open for a few weeks.

What documents will be needed?

When you fill out Form 6 or any other form, you will need to have certain proofs with you. Generally, documents such as Aadhaar Card, Voter ID card, birth certificate, pension order, and identity cards issued by the Central/State Government are considered valid. These documents prove that you reside in that area and are eligible to vote. This process is important because the final voter list will be published around March, and after that, adding or correcting names becomes difficult. Taking prompt action will safeguard your right to vote.
