The Bihar government's Inter-Caste Marriage Promotion Scheme aims to eliminate caste-based discrimination. Under this scheme, couples who have an inter-caste marriage are given an incentive of up to Rs. 1 lakh.

Caste-based discrimination is deeply rooted in Bihar, and it remains a curse for the government and the progress of Bihar. To eliminate this problem, the Bihar government has launched the "Inter-Caste Marriage Promotion Scheme." The objective of this scheme is to eliminate casteism and discrimination in the state and society of Bihar. Under this scheme, if a person from Bihar marries outside their caste, i.e., has an inter-caste marriage, the government will provide that person or couple with an incentive of up to Rs. 1 lakh. However, the government has also laid down several conditions and rules to avail of this scheme, which must be followed. Let's learn about this scheme.

How much money will the newly married couple receive?

Under this scheme launched by the Bihar government, if any person who is a resident of Bihar marries someone from a different caste, they will be given up to Rs. 1 lakh as an incentive by the Bihar government. However, the incentive will only be provided for marriages between different castes. The objective is to eliminate caste-based discrimination and untouchability prevalent in society and to promote mutual brotherhood among people, thereby ending discrimination between different castes and establishing new relationships.

Conditions and Rules to Avail of the Scheme

  • To avail of this scheme, the Bihar government has implemented some important conditions and rules for newly married couples. If you follow all these rules, you can also benefit from the Bihar government's "Inter-Caste Marriage Promotion Grant Scheme."

  • According to this scheme, one partner in the newly married couple must belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) or Scheduled Tribe (ST) community, and the other partner must belong to the upper caste or Other Backwards Class (OBC) community. The benefits of this scheme will only be available to individuals or newly married couples who are legally married, meaning those who possess a marriage certificate or a court marriage certificate.
  • According to the scheme's rules, the girl must be over 18 years old and the boy must be over 21 years old. Only then will the newly married couple be eligible for this scheme.
  • To receive the scheme's benefits, the husband and wife must have a joint bank account, and the account must be linked to their Aadhaar cards.
  • The marriage of the boy and girl must be officially registered under the Special Marriage Act, 1954 or the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955.
