Gold and silver prices remained stable in the Delhi bullion market today. Gold (99.9% purity) stood at ₹1,49,800 per 10 grams, while silver remained at ₹2,27,000 per kilogram. Here is an update on the international market.

There is some welcome news for gold and silver buyers today. Prices for both metals remained unchanged in the national capital’s bullion market on Monday. Due to weak domestic demand, the rates for both precious metals stayed within a narrow range.

What is the price of gold today?

Gold with 99.9% purity remained steady at ₹1,49,800 per 10 grams on Monday, meaning there was no change compared to the previous trading session’s price. According to bullion traders, demand from jewelers and retailers is currently not very strong; consequently, there is no significant fluctuation in gold prices in the domestic market. In terms of 24-carat gold, the price for 10 grams is hovering around ₹1.50 lakh.

What are the rates for silver?

Like gold, silver prices also remained unchanged on Monday. In the Delhi bullion market, silver held steady at ₹2,27,000 per kilogram. This means purchasing one kilogram of silver would cost approximately ₹2.27 lakh, while the price for 10 grams comes to around ₹2,270.

Sharp movement in silver in the international market

In the international market, spot gold prices rose slightly to reach $4,156.62 per ounce. Meanwhile, the price of silver climbed by more than 2% to reach $61.70 per ounce. In other words, while gold and silver prices remained steady in the domestic market due to weak demand, silver has shown a significant rally in international markets.

Impact of the Dollar

According to commodity experts, a strong US dollar is exerting downward pressure on gold’s upward momentum. On Monday, the Dollar Index climbed above the 102.50 mark. A strengthening dollar makes purchasing gold—which is priced in dollars—more expensive for buyers from other countries.

Could Gold Prices Rise?

Physical demand for gold in India typically rises during the festive season in October and November. If purchasing by jewelers and consumers increases, it could provide support to gold prices in the domestic market.

Gold buyers should also note that the bullion market rate may differ from the price offered at jewelry stores. You may end up paying a higher price once making charges, GST, and the jeweler’s margin are added.
