How many students will get benefits under PM Research Fellowship, know when the scheme will start

PM Research Fellowship: While presenting the budget, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that a total of 10,000 PM Research Fellowships will be issued in the next 5 years. Know which students will get the benefit of this.
On 1 February 2025, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is presenting the budget in Parliament. Different types of schemes have been announced by the Finance Minister for people of different sections. Students have also been given a gift by the Finance Minister.
During the budget, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has also announced the implementation of the PM Research Fellowship. Let us tell you that this scheme was announced in the budget for the year 2018-19. PM Modi had mentioned this in January this year.
This scheme will encourage promising students to do doctoral research in India. Under this scheme, students will be given financial assistance in research during PhD studies. The Finance Minister said that a total of 10,000 PM Research Fellowships will be issued in the next 5 years.
Actually, under the PM Research Fellowship Scheme, the selected students will get direct admission to the HD Research Program in IITs, IISc, and IISERs. Along with this, they are also given fellowship. Which ranges from Rs 70,000 to Rs 80,000 per month.
Under this scheme, Rs 70,000 will be given every month as a fellowship in the first year. In the second year also, Rs 70,000 will be given every month. In the third year, by increasing it by Rs 5000, this amount will become Rs 75,000 per month. In the fourth and fifth years, it will become Rs 80,000 per month.
Apart from this, every girl student will also be given a research grant of up to Rs 10 lakh for 5 years at the rate of Rs 20,000 every year. This scheme has been opened for eligible students of all recognized institutions of the country.
Let us tell you that some eligibility criteria have been fixed by the government for giving fellowships. Only those students who fulfill those eligibility criteria will be given this fellowship.
