What is the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme?
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme on February 15, 2024. The scheme aims to provide free electricity up to 300 units per month to about 1 crore households across the country. Under this scheme, the government will provide subsidy on the purchase of solar panels.
Specifically, the government will provide a subsidy of ₹30,000 for 1 kW solar panel, ₹60,000 for 2 kW solar panel, and a maximum of ₹78,000 for 3 kW solar panel.
How to avail?
To avail this scheme, follow these steps:
Visit the official portal: pmsuryaghar.gov.in.
Click on "Apply for Rooftop Solar" on the homepage.
Select your state from the options provided.
Choose your electricity distribution company.
Enter your mobile number and consumer number.
Submit the OTP received on your mobile and fill the captcha.
After completing this process, apply for the Rooftop Solar Scheme. Make sure you have the required documents ready including Aadhaar card, mobile number, electricity bill, ration card, income certificate, photo, affidavit, and residence certificate.
