General Coach Passengers Limit: People often have a question in their minds about general coaches, whether there is any limit for passengers to travel in it, like sleeper and AC coaches.

Every day crores of people travel by trains in India. Railways operates thousands of trains to connect different parts of the country. Train travel is not only economical but also convenient. This is the reason why passengers from common man to far-flung areas also give priority to it.

Among these, the demand for general coaches is the highest. General coach is also called unreserved coach. For those who want to travel at a low cost without making a reservation, this coach is the best for them. This coach is there in almost every train.

Whenever you have seen, the general coach is always full of passengers. Because its ticket is cheap. And no one has a right on any seat. That is why so many people are seen in it. But can any number of passengers travel in it?

Or like sleeper and AC coaches, is there any limit on the number of passengers travelling in it? If you also have this question in your mind, then let us tell you that the railways have not set any official limit for this. But the general coach is designed in such a way that maximum number of passengers can come in it.

Like sleeper and AC, it also has a fixed number of seats. And the rest of the space is for people to stand. The railways have fixed the capacity of about 90 to 100 passengers in the general coach. But on festivals, holidays or special occasions, this figure increases a lot.

Sometimes 200 to 250 people are also seen travelling in a coach. Many times, keeping in view the safety and convenience, the railways take measures from time to time to control the crowd in the general coach. Extra general coaches are added on some routes or special trains are run.

The railway rules clearly state that no more passengers than the fixed capacity should board the coach because this can affect the safety of the passengers. Recently, the railways have implemented a rule of issuing only 150 tickets at New Delhi Railway Station as a trial for general coaches.
