According to government officials, under normal circumstances, an LPG cylinder should be delivered within 2 to 3 days of booking. However, in certain regions, slight delays may occur due to increased demand or technical glitches.

Due to ongoing tensions in the Middle East, thousands of people across the country are facing difficulties regarding LPG gas supplies. Many consumers report that they have been attempting to book a refill for several days now, only to be informed at various locations that stocks have run out. Additionally, consumers in many areas have lodged complaints regarding delayed deliveries and pending bookings. Amidst this situation, the Central Government has clarified the rules regarding the booking and delivery of LPG cylinders, stating that there is no shortage of gas in the country and consumers need not panic or make excessive bookings.

The government notes that in recent days, many consumers have started booking more cylinders than necessary, thereby placing increased pressure on the supply system. To manage this situation and ensure equitable gas distribution to all, certain changes have been implemented regarding booking intervals and the delivery process. In light of this, let us now explain how many days after booking an LPG cylinder should ideally be delivered, and what the government’s specific rules are regarding this matter.

Prescribed Interval Between Bookings

According to the new regulations, it is no longer possible to book a second cylinder immediately after receiving the first one. The government has established a minimum waiting period between bookings. In urban areas, consumers must wait at least 25 days after receiving the delivery of their previous cylinder before they can book the next one. In rural and remote areas, this waiting period has been set even higher; consumers in such regions will be permitted to book a new cylinder only after 45 days. The government asserts that this measure will curb the tendency of individual households to hoard gas by making frequent, repetitive bookings, thereby ensuring that supplies reach all consumers efficiently and equitably.

How Many Days After Booking Should the Cylinder Be Delivered?

According to government officials, under normal circumstances, a gas cylinder should be delivered within 2 to 3 days of booking. However, in certain regions, slight delays may occur due to increased demand or technical glitches. Meanwhile, over the past few days, several consumers have complained that cylinder deliveries are taking up to a week, or that their bookings appear to be pending. In response, officials state that this situation—observed in certain areas—has arisen due to a sudden surge in bookings and excessive load on the servers; the situation is now gradually being normalized.

OTP Now Mandatory at the Time of Delivery

To enhance the transparency of the gas distribution system, changes have been introduced to the delivery process; in most regions, OTP-based verification has now been implemented for gas cylinder deliveries. Under this procedure, when the delivery personnel arrives at a consumer’s home with the cylinder, an OTP will be sent to the consumer’s registered mobile number. Consumers are required to share this OTP with the delivery personnel, following which the delivery will be marked as complete within the system. Without a valid OTP, the delivery of the cylinder will not be recorded. According to officials, this system has been implemented to prevent issues such as incorrect deliveries, fraudulent entries, and irregularities within the distribution process.
