Hospitals Refuse Free Treatment Even with Ayushman Card? Here's How to File a Direct Complaint
Ayushman Card Complaint: If a hospital refuses free treatment even after showing your Ayushman Card, you can file a complaint against the hospital. Learn the process here.
Ayushman Card Complaint: The Ayushman Card is a major relief for families struggling with rising medical costs. Through this card, the government provides cashless treatment up to Rs. 5 lakh annually to every eligible family. This is why millions of people across the country are able to receive even major treatments without spending any money out of pocket. However, sometimes complaints arise that some hospitals do not admit patients even after they show their Ayushman Card.
Or they refuse to provide treatment. In such situations, people don't know what to do or where to complain. But let us tell you, a complete system is in place for this. If your Ayushman Card is active and the hospital is registered under the scheme, any refusal is a direct violation of the rules, and a complaint can be filed immediately. Learn where you can complain.
First, find out if the hospital is included in the Ayushman Yojana
First, find out whether the hospital where you want to get treatment is included in the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. For this, you need to go to the pmjay.gov.in website and open the Find Hospital section. By selecting your state, district, and specialty, the complete list appears. This list includes both private and government hospitals.
Once you have selected the hospital, go to the Ayushman Mitra Help Desk there. The Ayushman Mitra will verify your card. If everything is correct, your treatment will start for free. Sometimes people go directly to the OPD and miss the process, which causes problems.
Where to complain if the hospital refuses treatment?
If the hospital is registered under the scheme, your Ayushman Card is active, and yet the hospital refuses to provide cashless treatment, you can file a complaint immediately. The easiest option is to call the National Helpline number 14555. Your complaint will be registered immediately, and action will be initiated against that hospital. If needed, you can also contact your state's Ayushman SHA team. In many cases, hospitals receive notices or may even be removed from the scheme. It's important to know that refusing treatment to a patient with an Ayushman card at a registered hospital is a direct violation of the rules, and harassing patients is absolutely not tolerated under this scheme. Therefore, if this happens, do not remain silent; be sure to file a complaint.
