Highway travel will be cheaper and easier, and you will get relief from tolls! Government launches Fastag Annual Pass, see details.

Fastag Annual Pass: If you travel on the highway daily and are tired of paying toll fees again and again, then there is good news for you! The government has launched a new FASTag annual pass, which will save both your pocket and time.
Fastag Annual Pass: If you also travel on the national highway daily and paying money at the toll plaza every time and standing in line is a burden on both your pocket and time, then now the government has found a great solution to your problem. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has launched a new FASTag Annual Pass, which will make your journey not only easy but also economical. With the help of this pass, you will be able to travel for a whole year or a maximum of 200 trips without any additional toll fees for just ₹ 3,000. That is, now no need to worry about toll charges again and again, just pay once and travel comfortably on the highway throughout the year.
This new pass will come into effect from August 15, 2025 and you can buy it only from the 'Highway Yatra' mobile app or the official website of NHAI (National Highway Authority of India). Keep in mind, this facility is available only for private vehicles like car, jeep or van.
How will it work?
When you buy this annual pass, it gets linked to your FASTag. Your FASTag should be properly affixed on the windshield of your vehicle and linked to your registration number. If your FASTag is not blacklisted and all the information is correct, then this pass will be activated immediately after payment. After this, you will not pay any additional charge while passing through the toll plaza, until your 200 trips are completed or one year passes, whichever is earlier.
What will be considered as one trip?
It is important to know what is meant by one trip. If you pass through a point-based toll plaza (where there is only an entry point), then passing once will be considered as one trip. If you return from the same route, it will be considered as the second trip. Whereas, in the closed tolling system where there are both entry and exit, a complete journey (entry to exit) will be considered equal to one trip.
How to buy and activate?
First of all you have to go to the 'Highway Yatra' app or NHAI website. There you will have to check your vehicle and FASTag to see if you are eligible for this scheme or not. If everything is found correct, then you can activate this pass in your FASTag by paying ₹ 3,000. Its validity starts from the date of activation.
When will it expire and how to renew?
Once your 200 trips are completed or one year is completed, your pass will automatically convert into a normal FASTag. If you want a similar facility again, then you will have to renew the pass again with the same process.
SMS alerts will also be available
As soon as you start the annual pass, you allow the 'Highway Travel' app to get information about your registered mobile number from your bank. With this, all the important information and trip alerts related to the pass will be sent to you through SMS.
Why is this pass beneficial?
This scheme has been specially designed for those people who travel on the National Highway daily or several times a week. For such travelers, toll charge becomes a big expense every month. Now this annual pass will not only reduce expenses but will also save time, as you will not have to stop in the toll line. Also, the journey will be smooth and tension-free.
If you also want to travel without interruption, not for free, but at almost fixed rates, then this annual pass of FASTag is a great option for you. This facility is starting from 15 August 2025, be ready and activate it in time!
