Ayush Health Insurance news: There is good news for those who believe in Ayush treatment including Ayurveda and naturopathy. The Ministry of Ayush is not only engaged in providing cheap Ayush treatment to the people, but now your health insurance policy will also bear the cost of your treatment done through Ayush treatment. In such a situation, the insurance company will pay for the treatment and you will not have to spend money from your pocket. To bring Ayush treatment continuously in health insurance coverage, a meeting has been held between the country's insurance companies and Ayush hospitals at the All India Institute of Ayurveda in Delhi. Soon a big announcement can be made in the direction of getting insurance coverage for Ayush treatment.

After the complete inclusion of Ayush treatment in insurance coverage, not only people from India but also people coming from abroad will be able to get free or very cheap treatment in more than 250 NABH-accredited Ayush hospitals or daycare centers in India with their health insurance policies.

Where and how will this treatment be available? Up to how many lakhs will AYUSH treatment be covered under insurance coverage? Which diseases can be treated? Let's know the answers to every question from Dr. Tanuja Nesari, Director of All India Institute of Ayurveda.

Question. For which diseases will patients get the benefit of insurance?

Answer. Apart from Ayurveda, all medical systems like Siddha, Unani, Naturopathy, and Homeopathy will be covered under health insurance. If treatment is done by any of these, the insurance companies will bear the cost of treatment under the insurance scheme. Since 2013, some insurance companies have been including the AYUSH area in insurance, but now it is being done on a large scale. So more and more insurance companies cover AYUSH in insurance schemes. Preparations are going on, and AYUSH insurance packages are being made. Soon we will get to hear good news in this.

Question - Up to how many lakhs will the treatment cost be covered under insurance?

Answer- Whether it is Ayurveda or any system of AYUSH, a surgical procedure like Panchkarma, any therapy, etc., or any OPD-based treatment, the process of providing coverage in health insurance to all is going on. How much lakhs of treatment will be covered in insurance will depend on the treatment and its duration. Usually, the maximum expense is up to 40-50 thousand rupees, which comes under Panchkarma therapy. All this will be covered by insurance.

Question- Which diseases will be covered in it?

Answer- There are more than 40 departments in the All India Institute of Ayurveda itself, medical guidelines for about 172 diseases coming under them have been compiled which have been consolidated into about 150 insurance packages.

Question- Will we have to take a separate policy for AYUSH treatment and a separate one for allopathy?

Answer. This year, IRDAI said in a letter to all insurance companies that just like the health insurance coverage being given in health insurance policies till now, AYUSH should also be included in it. So that the policyholder is free to choose treatment after taking a single insurance plan and he can get treatment from insurance wherever he wants. Apart from this, initiatives are being taken to include AYUSH treatment in Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan-Arogya Yojana as well. Therefore, the effort is that the patient should be free to get treatment in any health sector with a single policy.

So many people took advantage
In the information given by the Ministry of AYUSH, it was told that in the year 2023-24 itself, 10826 people made AYUSH hospitalization claims of more than Rs 75 crore. This figure is much higher than in previous years and is increasing continuously.

Started in 2013
Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority India issued a notification for AYUSH coverage under health insurance policies on 16 February 2013. After this, many insurance companies like Star Health, ICICI Lombard, General Insurance Company, etc. covered AYUSH treatment in insurance plans. After this, in 2017, IRDAI again issued a circular for all insurance providers and third-party administrators.
