HDFC Bank: HDFC Bank downtime alert: UPI services will be unavailable twice in December...
HDFC Bank has announced that system maintenance will be conducted twice in December 2025, during which UPI services will be completely unavailable. According to the bank, this technical work is necessary for system upgrades and improving service quality. Both maintenance slots are scheduled from 2:30 AM to 6:30 AM on December 13th and December 21st. Each slot will last a total of four hours.
No Payments from HDFC Bank Accounts
The bank stated that during this period, customers will not be able to make any UPI transactions from their HDFC Bank accounts. This includes UPI payments from savings and current accounts, UPI payments using HDFC Bank RuPay credit cards, transfers via the MobileBanking app, and payments made through third-party apps (such as PhonePe, Google Pay, and Paytm). Merchants whose UPI settlements are linked to HDFC Bank accounts will also face temporary difficulties.
HDFC Bank Advises Using PayZapp Wallet
The bank has advised customers to use the PayZapp wallet for payments and transfers during these hours, as it will continue to function normally during the maintenance. The bank assured that there will be no disruption to PayZapp services.
To start using the PayZapp wallet, customers can download the app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Registration requires a mobile number and verification via OTP. Two types of KYC (Know Your Customer) verification are available: bank-based full KYC or basic PAN-based KYC. Full KYC is easier for existing HDFC Bank customers, while non-HDFC customers can complete basic KYC using their PAN card.
Transaction limits in PayZapp vary depending on the type of KYC. With PAN-based KYC, the monthly and annual limits range from ₹10,000 to ₹1,20,000, while with bank-based KYC, this limit increases significantly to ₹10 lakh annually. Customers can also set their own spending limits in the wallet.
Additionally, CashPoints earned in PayZapp can be redeemed directly into the wallet. These can be transferred to your wallet by going to the Cashpoints & Offers section on the app's homepage or menu bar. HDFC Bank has advised customers to complete any essential payment-related transactions beforehand during these specified hours to avoid any inconvenience.
