DigiLocker Safety Tips: The risk of data theft has increased due to fake apps that look like DigiLocker. To identify the correct app, always check the developer name, design, and official link.

Nowadays, a lot of fraud is being seen in the country regarding documents. Incidents of fake documents, misuse, and loss of documents are constantly increasing. Because of this, people are finding it better to keep their important documents safe on digital platforms.

Apps like DigiLocker help keep your documents safe digitally. But caution is necessary here, too. DigiLocker is a government digital platform that people trust blindly.

But now cybercriminals are taking advantage of this trust. There are many fake apps on the Google Play Store that look like DigiLocker. They look exactly like the real app and confuse users, leading to subsequent losses.

Through these fake apps, cyber fraudsters steal people's identity, banking information, and important documents. Once you log in to a fake app, your data can directly reach the criminals. Considering this threat, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has also issued a warning.

People get confused between the real and fake DigiLocker because the name, logo, and interface of the fake apps are almost identical. Many users assume that every app on the Play Store is safe. In their haste, they don't even check the developer information.

The easiest way to identify the real DigiLocker is to check the developer's name. The app information should show "National e-Governance Division" or "Government of India." Besides this, spelling mistakes, poor design, and strange language are also indicators of a fake app.

If you accidentally download a fake DigiLocker app, immediately remove it from your phone. Change your bank, UPI, and email passwords and perform a full scan of your phone. Report any suspicious activity immediately to cybercrime.gov.in or call 1930.
