What is an online task scam?

On Friday, a person doing business with secondhand cars in Pune was lured to earn money quickly and easily through online tasks. After this, the person was also given some money for completing the online task. Once the trust was won, he was added to a group on Telegram. Here he was given even more tasks and the money for every task was also transferred to the person immediately. Let us tell you that this online task scam starts in this way. In most cases, people get messages related to online tasks or jobs on their WhatsApp accounts. If someone replies to that message, then they are given tasks like rating hotels and resorts on Google Maps. To win the trust of the user, 100 to 150 rupees are also given for these easy tasks. After this, the real scam starts.

How did the fraud happen?

After adding a Pune businessman to a group on Telegram, he was given a special task named "Merchant Task". To earn money in this, the person was first asked to deposit money. The person, who had earned money from small tasks, started sending money to different bank accounts, trusting the fraudsters. After this, when the businessman asked for the money earned in return, the scammers started asking for more money from him on new pretexts. Getting trapped in this new scam of the fraudsters, he lost Rs 11.5 lakh in two days.

How to avoid this scam?
The easiest way to avoid this scam is to ignore any message coming from an unknown number. If any link is given in such a message, do not click on it even by mistake. Apart from this, you should not share your bank account or any other type of official document with unknown people. Do not become a part of unknown groups anywhere, be it WhatsApp or Telegram or any other messaging app. Think a hundred times before sending money to any unknown person. If you have even the slightest doubt, first talk to someone knowledgeable or contact the police if you suspect loss.
