LPG Rates Today (August 26, 2026): Indian oil companies (IOCL, BPCL, HPCL) have made no changes to domestic LPG cylinder prices today, Wednesday. This means the price of the 14.2 kg domestic cylinder used by the general public remains unchanged, even though consumers have long been awaiting a price cut.
Oil companies had raised domestic LPG prices by ₹29 per cylinder in June this year; since then, the price in Delhi has remained stable at ₹942. However, earlier this month, oil companies implemented a significant price reduction of approximately ₹194 to ₹200 for 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders, providing major relief to business owners.

India ramping up gas imports from the US.
India previously relied on the Middle East for 90% of its cooking gas needs. However, amidst concerns that the key Strait of Hormuz shipping route might face further disruptions due to military tensions between the US and Iran, India has begun purchasing gas from the US. Data from maritime intelligence firm Kpler indicates a substantial increase in India's imports of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) from the US.
India purchased 0.89 million tonnes of LPG from the US in July, followed by imports of approximately 0.62 million tonnes in August. Kpler's data reveals that LPG sourced from the US accounted for 73% of India's total LPG imports in August. Meanwhile, gas imports from the Gulf nations—historically India's largest suppliers—have dropped to extremely low levels. In August, LPG imports from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) fell to just 140,000 tonnes, while those from Qatar stood at a mere 60,000 tonnes. Notably, imports from Saudi Arabia were zero in both July and August.
