The Haryana government has announced a new welfare scheme aimed at empowering women and strengthening social security. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday declared that the Deen Dayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana will officially roll out on September 25, 2025, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya. Under the scheme, eligible women beneficiaries will receive ₹2,100 per month as financial support.

Key Highlights of the Scheme

The Chief Minister emphasized that the scheme will benefit women across categories, whether married or unmarried, as long as they meet the eligibility conditions. Starting September 25, women aged 23 years and above will be entitled to monthly assistance.

The initiative fulfills one of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) poll promises in Haryana and is being seen as a step toward enhancing social security for women in the state.

Eligibility Criteria

According to CM Saini, beneficiaries must fulfill certain residency requirements:

  • An unmarried woman must be a resident of Haryana for at least 15 years, or in the case of married women, their husband must meet the same criteria.

  • There is no limit on the number of beneficiaries per family. For example, if a household has three eligible women, all of them can apply and receive benefits.

The scheme also integrates with existing social welfare programs. Once an unmarried beneficiary turns 45 years old, she will automatically qualify for the Widow and Destitute Women Financial Assistance Scheme. Similarly, a married beneficiary who reaches the age of 60 will become eligible for the Old Age Pension Scheme.

First Phase Implementation

The Chief Minister revealed that in the first phase, the scheme will cover families with an annual income of less than ₹1 lakh. Around 19 to 20 lakh women are expected to benefit during this stage. The government plans to expand the program in a phased manner to include women from higher income brackets as well.

To ensure smooth execution, the Haryana government has allocated ₹5,000 crore in the 2025–26 state budget specifically for this initiative.

Application Process

To make the process accessible and transparent, the government will soon launch a dedicated mobile application. Through this app, eligible women can apply for the scheme directly from their homes, without the need for lengthy paperwork.

Additionally, lists of beneficiaries will be displayed in panchayats and municipal wards to ensure transparency and reduce chances of duplication or exclusion.

Government’s Stand on Women’s Welfare

While announcing the decision after a cabinet meeting, CM Saini stressed that women’s welfare and dignity remain a top priority for his government. He stated:

“Our government is committed to strengthening the social security of women. The Deen Dayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana will provide much-needed financial stability and respect to women of Haryana.”

The scheme is not only expected to provide economic relief to households, but also to increase women’s financial independence, thereby boosting their participation in community and economic activities.

Wider Impact

By linking this new scheme with existing welfare programs, the government aims to build a comprehensive safety net for women at different stages of life—whether single, married, middle-aged, widowed, or elderly. This layered approach ensures that women do not fall through policy gaps as they transition from one age group to another.

Final Word

The Deen Dayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana is poised to become one of Haryana’s landmark social schemes. By offering ₹2,100 monthly assistance to women aged 23 and above, the initiative promises to bring financial stability, social recognition, and empowerment to millions of women.

With its official launch set for September 25, 2025, the scheme represents a strong commitment from the Haryana government toward gender-sensitive governance and inclusive development.
