The Haryana government has announced a major relief package for farmers affected by heavy rainfall and floods, offering compensation of up to ₹15,000 per acre ahead of Diwali. Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini unveiled measures aimed at providing financial support to farmers, safeguarding crop production, and easing their economic burden.

Compensation for Crop Loss

As part of the relief initiative, approximately 5.37 lakh farmers have registered their crop losses on the e-Kshatipurti portal, covering a total of 31 lakh acres of farmland. Each eligible farmer will receive a maximum of ₹15,000 per acre, with the compensation amount to be transferred directly to their bank accounts in the coming weeks.

Additionally, the state has already provided around ₹4.72 crore directly to 2,386 affected families to compensate for earlier losses, including:

  • ₹4.67 crore for house damage

  • ₹4.21 lakh for livestock losses

CM Saini emphasized that these measures aim to mitigate the financial impact of the floods and heavy rains while ensuring farmers can continue their agricultural activities smoothly.

Relief on Crop Loans and Tubewell Electricity Bills

In districts where farmers suffered more than 50% crop loss, the government has temporarily suspended recovery of Kharif crop loans. Moreover, new Rabi crop loans will be made available to these farmers, providing relief to nearly 3 lakh farmers across the state.

The government has also deferred payment of tubewell electricity bills until December 2025, covering approximately 7.10 lakh farmers. These bills can now be paid without any additional interest or penalties until January 2026, offering significant financial respite.

Government Assurance

Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini reassured farmers that the state government stands firmly by their side and will prioritize resolving all issues affecting the agricultural community. These measures aim to reduce economic stress, ensure crop protection, and promote sustainable farming practices in Haryana.

Impact on Haryana’s Agricultural Sector

These initiatives are expected to:

  • Provide financial security to flood-affected farmers

  • Protect crop output and livelihoods

  • Facilitate better planning for upcoming Rabi crops

  • Strengthen overall resilience of the agricultural sector

By offering timely relief and easing financial burdens, the Haryana government is taking a proactive step toward stabilizing the state’s agricultural economy, fostering farmer welfare, and supporting regional development.
