Government Offers Major EPF Opportunity: Names Can Be Added to Coverage Until October 31

The EPFO ​​has launched the 'Employee Enrollment Campaign 2026'. Under this initiative, records can be regularized for employees who remained outside the EPF ambit despite being eligible between April 1, 2009, and March 31, 2026.

EPFO Enrollment Campaign 2026: If you or a family member is an employee who—despite being employed—did not receive social security benefits like EPF, pension, or insurance for some reason, this information is relevant to you. The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has launched a special initiative to bring such eligible employees under the social security umbrella.

Specifically, the EPFO ​​has started the 'Employee Enrollment Campaign 2026'. This initiative aims to rectify discrepancies in employers' records and provide an opportunity for eligible employees—who were previously left out during the specified period—to join the EPF scheme.

What are the deadline and conditions for enrollment?

According to the Ministry of Labour and Employment, this campaign came into effect on June 29, 2026. It offers an opportunity to include eligible employees in EPF coverage who had remained outside the scheme for any reason between April 1, 2009, and March 31, 2026.

Employers have been given until October 31, 2026, to enroll eligible employees under this campaign. However, certain mandatory conditions have been set:

This facility is a one-time opportunity for eligible employees.
The employee must have remained outside EPF coverage during the specified period.
The employee must be alive at the time of the declaration.
The employee must be actively working at the concerned establishment.
The employer must enroll the employee based on their eligibility.

Which employees can avail of this benefit?

This campaign can particularly benefit eligible employees who should have been covered under the EPF scheme during the specified period but were not included for some reason. If these employees are enrolled under this campaign, they can avail of social security benefits related to pension and insurance, in addition to EPF coverage.

The objective of this initiative is to ensure that establishments face no difficulties in rectifying record discrepancies promptly and can easily bring eligible employees into the social security fold.

How will the employee be enrolled in EPF?

The registration process is online. Employers will need to digitally complete certain necessary procedures for the employees being enrolled.

A Universal Account Number (UAN) will be generated for the employee.
Face authentication via the UMANG app can be used during the UAN generation process.
Once the UAN is generated, the mandatory statutory contributions must be deposited.
The Electronic Challan-cum-Return (ECR) system will be used for this purpose.
