Google Street View: Google took private picture, court imposed fine of more than 10 lakhs! Know the whole matter..

Violating the privacy of a police officer in Argentina proved costly for Google. In fact, in 2017, the Google Street View car took a completely nude picture of the officer from the backyard of his house. The surprising thing was that at that time the officer was present in his private premises, which had a 6 feet 6 inches high wall around it.
Google Street View became the cause of embarrassment.
After this incident, the man became a laughing stock in his office and neighborhood. According to a CBS News report, not only was his body visible in the picture, but Google also did not blur the address of the house and the name of the street, due to which his identity was exposed.
In 2019, the victim filed a case against Google regarding this matter. However, the lower court dismissed the case, saying that the man was outside in an 'inappropriate state'. But now the appellate court has overturned the earlier decision and held Google guilty of a privacy violation.
The court ruled in favor of the victim.
The court ordered Google to pay compensation of $12,500 (about Rs 10.8 lakh). Google explained that the height of the wall was not sufficient, but the court rejected this argument. The court said, "This picture is taken from a private area and not a public one, and this is clearly a violation of privacy."
It is worth noting that according to Google's Street View policy, faces and vehicle number plates are automatically blurred, but in this case neither the identity of the person was hidden nor any necessary precaution was taken.
