Google Maps: Google will also tell the width of the road and alternative route, the facility will start in eight cities right now..

Now your journey is going to be more comfortable. Google Maps will also tell the width of the roads. If the road is narrow, it will save you from traffic jams through alerts and will also tell you an alternative route. Travel by flyover or choose the service road, Google Maps' 'Flyover Callout' will also solve this dilemma.
Amid growing competition from Ola Maps, Google on Thursday announced several new features of Google Maps powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) to attract Indian users. These features will be operated with the help of local partners.
This is how it will work.
Miriam Daniel, General Manager, Google Maps, India, wrote in a blog post, "We are excited to continue our journey of innovation and build the future of Google Maps in India. We have developed an AI model specifically for Indian roads. This model includes information such as satellite imagery, road type, distance between buildings, and paved parts of the road to estimate the width of the road.
Using estimates of road width, we have improved our existing AI routing algorithm to help four-wheelers avoid narrow roads. The company is also adding a "callout feature" to alert users about narrow roads.
The feature will be launched in these cities.
Google Maps is launching this feature on Android devices in eight cities this week - Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Coimbatore, Indore, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar and Guwahati. Soon this feature will be made available in iOS and other cities as well. Google has simplified the way users report road accidents. Users can now report it with just a few taps.
Google will provide information about EV charging stations.
Google has also announced to provide information about EV charging stations on both Google Maps and Google Search in India. Google said we are collaborating with leading EV charging providers in India ElectricPay, Ather, and Static to add official information for more than eight thousand charging stations. This is the first time Google is launching EV charging station information for two-wheelers on Google Maps. India is the first country to get this facility.
It is worth noting that Google has recently decided to cut the price of the Google Maps platform for developers by up to 70 percent from August 1. This cut was made a few weeks after Ola founder and CEO Bhavish Aggarwal urged Indian developers to stay away from Google Maps. Bhavish had announced that Ola Cabs would use its own in-house Ola Maps.
