Good news is coming from the Railways! You can change the date of your confirmed ticket without any charges.

Indian Railways is about to announce some good news for its passengers. You can now change your travel date on your confirmed ticket without any financial charges. The Railways are introducing a new feature.
The rush for tickets on Indian Railways is nothing new. In this rush, booking a ticket for the wrong date is excruciating. It's a difficult process to obtain, and the date is also incorrect. If this has happened to you, there's no need to worry. According to media reports, Indian Railways will soon be offering a new facility to its passengers. This facility will allow passengers to change the date on their confirmed tickets without any financial loss.
Railways to announce some good news soon
Media reports indicate that Indian Railways is preparing a major change soon for the convenience of passengers. This change will be a relief for passengers, as they will be given the option to change the date on their confirmed tickets, and importantly, no money will be deducted for doing so. Simply put, if you have a confirmed ticket from Delhi to Jaipur on November 30th, and for some reason your plan changes five days later, you won't need to buy a new ticket on December 5th.
You can edit your November 30th ticket and travel to Jaipur on December 5th using the same ticket. Currently, passengers have to cancel their tickets if their plans are canceled. This has two disadvantages: the Railways charges a cancellation fee, and the uncertainty of whether a confirmed ticket will be available for the desired date.
Currently, this much cancellation charge is required.
According to an NDTV report, the Railway Minister himself has stated his position on this matter, stating that this system is not appropriate. The minister stated that necessary instructions have been issued to change this system and work is underway. It is claimed that the date of confirmed online travel will be changed starting January 2026. Currently, cancellation of a ticket requires a fee of ₹240 plus GST for First AC. Furthermore, for AC 2-tier, the charge is ₹200, with GST varying for each class. Meanwhile, for Third AC, the Railways charges ₹180 plus GST. If the travel date change rule is implemented, it will significantly benefit passengers.
