Zerodha has increased the limit for instant fund withdrawals from ₹2 lakh to ₹5 lakh. Customers can now transfer larger amounts than before from their trading accounts to their bank accounts using the instant withdrawal facility. In a post on X, Zerodha co-founder and CEO Nithin Kamath stated that this increased limit will be available between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM, including on weekends and market holidays.

From ₹2 lakh to ₹5 lakh—a 2.5x increase

Customers who meet the eligibility criteria for this facility do not have to wait for the standard withdrawal settlement cycle. The limit, previously set at ₹2 lakh, has now been raised to ₹5 lakh—an increase of ₹3 lakh, effectively making it 2.5 times the previous limit.

For instance, if a customer has a withdrawable balance of ₹4 lakh in their trading account, the old limit would have allowed them to withdraw only ₹2 lakh via the instant facility. Now, provided the conditions are met, the entire ₹4 lakh can be transferred to their bank account in a single transaction.

Available on weekends and market holidays—just keep the timing in mind

According to Nithin Kamath’s post, the ₹5 lakh limit is applicable between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM. This time window is not restricted to days when the stock market is open; whether it is a Sunday afternoon or a market holiday, customers can utilize this limit as long as the time falls between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Therefore, be sure to check the time before submitting a withdrawal request.

Approximately ₹1 lakh crore in instant payouts since 2024

Zerodha states that since the beginning of 2024, it has processed instant payouts totaling approximately ₹1 lakh crore, at no additional cost to its customers. With this increase in the limit, users will now be able to withdraw even larger sums at once through this facility. How to Withdraw Funds Instantly from Zerodha

Using this feature is straightforward. Simply log in to your Zerodha account and follow these steps:

Go to the 'Funds' section.
Select the 'Instant' option under withdrawals.
Enter the amount you wish to withdraw.
Tap 'Continue' and confirm your request.
Minimum amount: ₹100; Limit: One request per day.

According to Zerodha’s support documentation, you can withdraw a minimum of ₹100 and a maximum of ₹5 lakh per day using this feature. Furthermore, only one instant withdrawal request is permitted per day.

For example, if you submit a request for ₹1 lakh in the morning, you will not be able to place a second instant withdrawal request that same day, even if you have ₹4 lakh of your daily limit remaining. Therefore, calculate the total amount you need and submit a single request for the entire sum.

Eligibility for this feature

There are certain conditions for instant withdrawals. First, your trading account must have a sufficient 'withdrawable balance.' Second, funds deposited into your account cannot be withdrawn via the instant method on the same day they are credited. For instance, if you deposit ₹50,000 into your account in the morning, you cannot withdraw that same amount using the instant withdrawal feature on that day.

Additionally, restrictions related to orders and positions may apply. The presence of pending or executed orders, or open positions in your account, could affect your ability to use the instant withdrawal feature. Certain sell orders—specifically those for long-term (CNC) holdings or margin-traded (MTF) positions—are treated differently under Zerodha’s policies. New EPFO feature: You can now check your PF balance and passbook on WhatsApp; here’s the complete process.

Do not confuse the limits for instant and regular withdrawals.

The ₹5 lakh limit applies only to instant withdrawals. Do not mistake this for the overall limit on regular fund withdrawals; the two are distinct. This ₹5 lakh threshold is specific to the 'fast-track' option, which eliminates the need to wait for the standard settlement cycle. Customers who wish to understand the terms and the full withdrawal procedure in detail can find comprehensive information on the Zerodha support page.
