In this regard, a revolutionary initiative has been taken this year: the decision to disburse scholarships ahead of schedule. Under this initiative, scholarships were awarded to over 400,000 students in the state on September 26th in the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in the Jupiter Hall of the Indira Gandhi Foundation.
When were scholarships previously available?
Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Backward Classes Welfare and Disability Empowerment, Narendra Kashyap, stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a historic change has been made in the scholarship distribution system. Previously, scholarships were distributed in February-March, but now they are distributed during Navratri and September, ensuring timely access to students. This will be a Diwali gift for students.
How many scholarships will be distributed in 2025?
He stated that in 2024, approximately 5.9 million students from backward classes, Scheduled Castes, and Scheduled Tribes in the state received scholarships, while this number will increase to over 7 million in 2025. The government is continuously expanding the scope of scholarships. The Minister stated that the Backward Classes Welfare, Social Welfare, and Minority Welfare departments, under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, jointly developed a comprehensive strategy to ensure timely scholarships for students. This is why this year, scholarship benefits will reach students during the auspicious occasion of Navratri.
