Another Intercity train connecting Lucknow and Varanasi has commenced operations today, Friday. Northern Railway has launched a new regular Intercity Express service effective May 28, 2026. This train will run daily and is primarily aimed at facilitating easier travel between Lucknow and Varanasi via Ayodhya. Until now, the Varuna Express was the regular service operating between the two cities; with the launch of this additional train, passengers will now enjoy enhanced convenience for their commutes. The Ministry of Railways has decided to regularize the currently running Train No. 04217/04218 Varanasi-Lucknow-Varanasi Special Express, re-designating it as the new Train No. 14225/14226 Varanasi-Lucknow-Varanasi Express, to run on a daily basis. The train will consist of 15 coaches, 13 of which will be General Second Class coaches. This new train will be particularly beneficial for those traveling between Lucknow and Varanasi via Ayodhya, as it will now operate as a regular scheduled service, replacing the previous "special" train status.

**Lucknow-Varanasi New Intercity Train Schedule**
Varanasi-Lucknow Train (No. 14225): Departs from Varanasi at 06:20 AM and arrives in Lucknow at 12:20 PM.

Lucknow-Varanasi Train (No. 14226): Departs from Lucknow at 04:20 PM and arrives in Varanasi at 10:20 PM.

**Lucknow-Varanasi New Intercity Train Stoppages**
The train will make stoppages at Babatpur, Jaunpur, Shahganj, Malikpur, Akbarpur, Goshainganj, Ayodhya Dham Junction, Ayodhya Cantt, Rudauli, Daryabad, and Barabanki Junction.
