Starting November 1, the government is launching a nationwide 'Digital Life Certificate' campaign. Through this initiative, elderly pensioners will be able to generate their life certificates from the comfort of their homes using face authentication on their smartphones.

The beginning of each month often brings changes to government rules and services. The upcoming month of November will be particularly significant for elderly pensioners; they will no longer need to make repeated trips to banks or government offices to submit their life certificates. To simplify the process of obtaining a Digital Life Certificate (DLC), the central government is launching a nationwide campaign effective November 1, 2026.

Under this campaign, pensioners can generate their life certificates from home using face authentication technology. The government’s initiative will run until November 30, 2026, and will be conducted across 2,000 cities and districts nationwide. Touted as the largest Digital Life Certificate campaign to date, its primary objective is to streamline the submission process for elderly pensioners.

What is a Digital Life Certificate?

A Digital Life Certificate is a document that pensioners must submit once a year to confirm they are alive, ensuring the continued disbursement of their pension. Previously, pensioners were required to visit a bank or a government office to submit the necessary documentation. Now, to make the process more convenient, it can be completed digitally through the 'Jeevan Pramaan' service.

Life Certificate via Face Authentication

This time, the government is placing a special emphasis on promoting face authentication technology. Pensioners will be able to generate their Digital Life Certificates by having their faces scanned using their smartphone cameras. This feature is available on both Android and iOS mobile devices. It will provide significant relief, especially to elderly individuals who find it difficult to travel to banks or other government offices.

Nationwide Campaign to Begin on November 1

The Central Government will conduct its fifth nationwide 'Digital Life Certificate' (DLC) campaign from November 1 to November 30, 2026, across 2,000 cities and districts in the country. Several organizations will collaborate for this initiative, including pension-disbursing banks, India Post Payments Bank, Pensioners' Welfare Associations, the Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA), the Department of Telecommunications, UIDAI, the Railways, and the EPFO. A key objective of the government through this campaign is to reach pensioners residing in remote areas.
