Prices have come down due to profit-booking following the recent surge in gold values.

However, there is a slight rise in gold prices in international markets. Spot gold has reached $4,379.95 per ounce. A weakening dollar has provided support to global gold prices. US inflation data released this week came in line with expectations, signaling that the US central bank, the Federal Reserve, will not alter benchmark interest rates at its meeting next month.

According to the US Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) saw a marginal increase of 0.1 percent in July, following a decline in June. Meanwhile, retail inflation in the US rose by 3.4 percent over the 12 months ending in July, matching economists' estimates. The US Producer Price Index (PPI) remained unchanged compared to June. On an annual basis—covering the 12 months up to July—the Producer Price Index recorded a rise of 4.7 percent.

Gold price in Chennai: The price of 24-carat gold is ₹1,53,160 per 10 grams. The price for 22-carat gold is ₹140,390 per 10 grams.

Prices in Pune and Bengaluru: In both these cities, the price of 24-carat gold is ₹152,880 per 10 grams, and the price of 22-carat gold is ₹140,140 per 10 grams.
