Gold Price Today: Gold prices are witnessing a sharp increase in the domestic futures market on Monday, January 5th. The gold futures contract expiring on February 5, 2026, on the Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) opened at ₹1,36,300 (per 10 grams) on Monday. On its last trading day, gold had closed at ₹1,35,761 on MCX.
At 10:10 AM on January 5th, the February 5th expiry gold contract on MCX was trading at ₹1,37,198, showing an increase of approximately ₹1500 from the previous day's closing price. MCX gold reached a high of ₹1,38,200 in early trading.

Along with gold, the price of silver, another precious metal, is also seeing a significant surge on Monday's trading day. The silver futures contract expiring on March 5, 2026, on MCX was trading at ₹2,42,685 (per kg), showing an increase of approximately ₹6400 from the previous day's closing price.
