On the morning of Janmashtami, rates for both 24-carat and 22-carat gold rose in most cities. In the capital, Delhi, the price of 24-carat gold has increased to ₹1,55,510 per 10 grams. In Mumbai, the price has reached ₹1,55,360 per 10 grams. In the international market, spot gold stands at $4,443.93 per ounce. Demand for gold as a safe-haven investment remains strong due to new geopolitical tensions.
Goldman Sachs has projected that gold prices will reach $4,900 per ounce by the end of this year. It notes that central banks of various countries are purchasing approximately 50 tonnes of gold per month in 2026.
