Gold prices in the country continue to decline. On the morning of October 8, rates softened in several cities. In the capital, Delhi, the price of 24-carat gold slipped to ₹1,49,690 per 10 grams. In Mumbai and Kolkata, the price stands at ₹1,49,560 per 10 grams. A day earlier, the price of 99.9% pure gold in Delhi's bullion market had dropped by ₹700, driven by a dip in domestic demand and a softening of global prices.

Meanwhile, the Reserve Bank of India's Monetary Policy Committee has raised the repo rate by 0.25 percent, bringing it to 5.50 percent. This marks the first hike in the key interest rate in four years. The central bank has also signaled further rate hikes ahead. In the international market, spot gold is showing an upward trend, with the price at $4,127.40 per ounce.
