Getting a Tatkal passport just got more expensive; find out how much you'll have to spend starting July 1st

Passport Price: A passport is an essential document for traveling abroad. If you are planning to get a passport made, you should know that the Ministry of External Affairs has increased the fees for passports and several related services.

Passport Price Update: Several rules are set to change starting July 1st, and one of these changes concerns passports. If you are planning to get a passport, this news is relevant to you, as the Ministry of External Affairs has hiked the fees for passports and associated services. The new rates will come into effect on July 1, 2026. Consequently, if you get a passport made or reissued after July, you will have to pay more than before.

How much will a Tatkal passport cost?

If you need to get a passport made quickly, you will have to pay a higher amount than before.
People opt for the Tatkal service to get their passports made faster.
The fee for a 36-page passport under this scheme will be ₹5,000.
Previously, the Tatkal fee for a 36-page passport was ₹3,500.
Meanwhile, if you require a 60-page passport, you will have to pay ₹6,000; the previous charge was ₹4,000.
This amount includes the standard application charge.

Higher fees for damaged or lost passports

If your passport gets damaged or lost and you need to have a new one issued, you will also have to pay a higher fee than before.

The re-issuance charge for a 36-page passport will now be ₹5,000.
Previously, the charge for a 36-page passport was ₹3,000.
For a 60-page passport, the charge will be ₹6,000.
Previously, the charge for a 60-page passport was ₹3,500.

How much will a regular passport cost?

According to the new fee structure, you will now have to pay ₹2,500 to get a regular 36-page passport made or renewed. Previously, the cost was ₹1,500. Meanwhile, the fee for a 60-page passport has been increased from ₹2,000 to ₹3,500.
