Get 3 Free Gas Cylinders and ₹3,000; Government Makes a Major Decision.
The standout feature of this government scheme is that ₹3,000 will be deposited directly into every family's bank account—regardless of income limits—to cover the cost of three free cylinders.
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced that eligible beneficiaries in the state will receive ₹3,000 annually to cover the cost of three LPG cylinders. Essentially, the Goa government has officially greenlit the 'Goa Ujjwala Yojana 2026'. Under this scheme, eligible families in the state will receive financial assistance of ₹3,000, equivalent to the cost of three domestic LPG cylinders or PNG supply per year. This scheme fulfills a promise made by the Chief Minister during the 2022 Goa Assembly elections, where the government assured the public that three LPG cylinders would be provided for free every year.
When will the money be transferred to the account?
Beneficiaries will start receiving the ₹3,000 annual amount in their bank accounts from September 9. The objective of this government scheme is to cover the cost of three LPG cylinders over the course of the year. Instead of providing the cylinders themselves, the government will transfer the funds directly to the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries. The CM stated that residents who complete the application process and submit the necessary documents will begin receiving this amount in their bank accounts.
How to apply?
To avail the benefits of this free LPG/PNG cylinder scheme in Goa, the government has established an offline application process. You can apply by following these simple steps:
- First, visit your nearest Gram Panchayat office, Municipality office, or the office of your local MLA. Obtain the official application form for the scheme there, free of cost.
- Next, accurately fill in all the required details in the form, such as the applicant's name, Aadhaar number, gas consumer number, gas agency name, and bank account details (where the ₹3,000 is to be credited). Keep copies of your gas/PNG connection documents, Aadhaar card, bank passbook, and Voter ID (EPIC card) ready.
- Attach photocopies of all required documents to the filled-out form. Then, submit it at the counter of the same Panchayat or Municipality office. Do not forget to collect the acknowledgment slip upon submission.
Who is eligible to apply?
A key feature of the scheme is that there is no income limit; families belonging to the general or open categories can also apply. The benefits of the scheme are available not only to LPG cylinder users but also to families using domestic Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections. Please note that even if a family has more than one gas connection, the scheme's benefit will be provided for only one connection per family. The government has not excluded government employees from the scheme either.
