Google has released a major update of its AI tools for the education sector. At the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) conference in America, Google has launched a new series of AI tools called 'Gemini in Classroom'. Under this, more than 30 new AI tools have been introduced for teachers. Apart from this, a new 'Gemini for Students' app specially designed for students has also been launched.
30+ new AI tools for teachers
Google said in its blog post that all these AI tools will be free for Google Workspace for Education users. This update has now come after adding Gemini features to Google Classroom last year. These tools include creating lesson plans with the help of AI, automatic quiz generation, creating presentations, designing worksheets, brainstorming tools for project ideas, and features that turn studies into a game (gamification).
NotebookLM and Gems features are coming soon.
With the help of NotebookLM, teachers can create study guides and audio overviews. With the Gems feature, teachers can create AI experts, which will provide extra support to students. Now, teachers will be able to track the progress of students properly. Initially, this feature will come with the K-12 National and State Learning Standards of America, and later, standards of other countries will also be added to it. With this, institutions will also be able to publish their learning standards in Google Classroom through the CASE Network 2.
Special Gemini for Education app for students
Google has introduced the Gemini for Students app specifically for students. It has features that will make the studies of students easier. Gemini Canvas will be available in the new app, through which students can create personalized quizzes on any subject. With the help of interactive diagrams and visuals, difficult subjects can also be easily understood. Supervision tools and controls for parents and teachers.
Safety focus
Google says that the safety and privacy of children has been taken care of in this app. The AI model will not be trained from the chat of children. Child safety experts have been consulted in preparing this policy.
