Like every month, this time also on August 1, oil companies will review the prices of LPG cylinders. Last time on July 1, the price of a commercial gas cylinder was reduced by Rs 60, while there was no change in the price of a domestic cylinder. Now it is expected that from August 1, there may be relief in the price of a domestic LPG cylinder. If this happens, then the general public will definitely get some relief, and kitchen expenses may be reduced.

A change in CNG and PNG prices is also possible.

Oil companies also revise the prices of CNG and PNG on the first of every month. However, there has been no change in them since April. Last time on April 9, the price of CNG in Mumbai reached ₹ 79.50 per kg and PNG ₹ 49 per unit. Now, in August, once again, a change in their prices is possible. If the price increases, then the cost of transport and domestic gas may increase.

A change in the ATF price will affect air passengers.
On August 1, oil companies can also change the rates of ATF (Air Turbine Fuel), i.e., aircraft fuel. If the price of aviation fuel increases, air tickets may become expensive. On the other hand, if the prices are reduced, the journey may become cheaper. This change will directly affect air passengers.

New rules related to UPI will be implemented.

To make digital payments better and safer, some new rules (UPI New Rules 2025) related to UPI will be implemented by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) from August 1. Now, balance can be checked only 50 times a day on third-party apps like Google Pay, PhonePe, or Paytm. At the same time, bank accounts linked to a mobile number on any UPI app can be viewed only up to 25 times a day.

Apart from this, AutoPay transactions like SIP or OTT subscription of mutual funds will now be processed only in 3 fixed time slots of the day, before 10 am, from 1 pm to 5 pm, and after 9.30 pm. In this way, the load on the system will be reduced, and the problem of transaction failure will be reduced.

Long list of bank holidays in August

According to the RBI, in August 2025, banks will remain closed for a total of 15 days (Bank Holidays in August 2025) across the country, according to different states and festivals. Till now, this cover was available from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1 crore, but now these benefits will not be available on ELITE and PRIME cards, which SBI had issued in collaboration with UCO Bank, Central Bank, Karur Vysya Bank, Allahabad Bank, and PSB. This can cause a big loss to the cardholder, especially those who relied on free insurance benefits.

The Monetary Policy Committee of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI MPC Meeting) is to meet from August 4 to August 6. In this meeting, Reserve Bank Governor Sanjay Malhotra will decide with the panel whether any change should be made in the interest rates or not.
