DTC Free Bus Travel Rules: Important news has emerged for female passengers traveling on Delhi buses. The system of issuing pink paper tickets for free bus travel for women will be discontinued on September 30, 2026. Instead, women will now need to obtain the 'Saheli Pink Smart Card.' The Delhi government has already issued over 18.5 lakh pink cards. This information was shared via a tweet on X.

In DTC buses, women will now be permitted free travel only after tapping their Saheli Pink Smart Card on the electronic ticketing machine. If a woman does not possess a Saheli Pink Card, she will have to purchase a regular ticket and pay the prescribed fare. It is worth noting that more than 18.5 lakh smart cards have been issued so far under this scheme, which was launched on March 2, 2026.

**Key Information Regarding the Saheli Pink Card**
All women and transgender citizens residing in Delhi who are 5 years of age or older are eligible to apply. To obtain the Saheli Pink Card, an Aadhaar card and an active mobile number linked to Aadhaar are mandatory. The card is issued free of cost for the first time; however, a replacement fee of ₹59 applies if the card is lost or damaged. The Saheli Pink Smart Card remains valid for five years from the date of issuance.

**Offline Method to Obtain the Saheli Pink Smart Card**
You can visit your nearest DTC center, DM office, or SDM office. Provide your name, mobile number, and Aadhaar details to the FOS agent present there. Once verification is completed via the OTP received on your mobile, the card will be issued to you on the same day.

**How ​​to Obtain the Saheli Pink Smart Card Online**
Visit the MufinPay portal or app. Enter your mobile number and Aadhaar details to complete the OTP verification. Download the QR acknowledgment received. Collect your physical smart card from any authorized DTC center.

This card is also valid for Delhi Metro and RRTS.
While the 'Saheli' Pink Smart Card offers free travel exclusively on DTC and Cluster buses, it also functions as a Common Mobility Card. It can be used for travel on the Delhi Metro and Rapid Rail as well; however, you must recharge the card to use it for these services. Recharging can be done by scanning the QR code printed on the back of the card using UPI, after which it can be activated by tapping it on an 'Add Value' machine at a metro station.
